Registration Opens for Slag Cement School 

The Slag Cement Association (SCA) announced that registration is open for the second annual Slag Cement School in Cape Canaveral, Fla., on May 22-23. 

The school will include educational presentations on slag cement use in concrete construction, sustainable resources available, and other presentations on benefits of use. On day two, attendees will also get a behind the scenes look at a local Heidelberg Materials cement plant. 

“Slag Cement School is an unparalleled experience for those that want to learn more about slag cement and its many benefits,” said Nick Brimley, marketing director of SCA. “Attendees will get the opportunity to learn from some of the leading experts in the cement and concrete industry.” 

SCA sessions to look forward to:

  • Slag Cement Basics, Production, and Cementitious Properties, presented by Wayne Wilson, Heidelberg Materials.
  • Slag Cement in Practice, Concrete Mix Designs, and Examples of Use, presented by Steve Wilcox and Jeremy Reich, Argos.
  • Slag Cement’s Role in Sustainable Concrete, SCA’s LCA Calculator, Mix Submittals, and Examples of Use, presented by Larry Rowland, Heidelberg Materials.
  • Slag Cement in Special Applications, Mass Concrete, Paving, Geotechnical and Waste Stabilization, presented by Mark Van Kleunen, Skyway Cement.
